Ah a little sneak peak of one of my new items due out soon this necklace uses platinum(will also be available in other metals) infinity loop basket settings (yup my signature gem setting for rings) with alternating diamonds and Rubies, the central pendant is a teardrop.

i have a 18k gold necklace with a pendant of a cow/ox (because im asian/buddhist its the religon of good luck of the zodiac of what animal you are in buddhism) my pendant ox has rubies on it i wear it almost everyday and the same as my gold braclet i
I don;t think you should. If its something you need to do religiously then do it! But otherwise HECKKK NO! lol

I'm talking about rings, watches, necklaces, bracelets, piercings all made from platinum, gold, diamonds, rubys, saphires, all that stuff.
Try a book store they might have a book on the people you have writing down. It might give you some Direction's on the jewelry you want to make.
