My engagement ring is a platinum solitaire. I just received it this month from my guy, and already notice some little wear and tear scratches. My jeweler said that's normal, that platinum naturally scratches easily, but HOW do I take care of it at home?
A jeweler should be able to polish the ring for you which will remove the light surface scratches. To protect the ring, don't wear it during activities where you know that it may be hit or banged against things. You can clean in an ultrasonic cleaner

ROMANTIC Clive Tuxford had been waiting for girlfriend Julie Proctor to find the ring of her dreams before proposing.
She spotted an antique ring at Reeman Dansie auction house, in Colchester, and Clive entered a tense bidding battle.
When he beat a jewellery dealer to the lot he got down on one knee in the packed auction room and popped the question.
Julie, 52, knew he had won and how much he had paid, but had no idea he was going to propose straight after collecting it.
Clive, 56, said: “As I picked it up I thought: ‘Now is as good a time as any’ so I went down on one knee.
“The best things are things you don’t plan.
“I didn’t want to stop the auction as it is a personal thing between Julie and me, so I thought I would just do it.”
The white gold ring has a platinum setting for a solitaire diamond and cost more than £800.
Julie, a higher level teaching assistant at Old Heath Primary School, Colchester, said: “You never know with Clive, he does very spontaneous things. I was
surprised, but I managed to say yes. I was never going to say anything else but I would have liked to have thought of something else to say.
